Now with solder-down probe option for small formfactor analyzer probing

Colorado Springs, Colorado, May 12, 2017 – Protocol Insight announces the availability of the Falcon v1.4 SW/FW with enhanced UFS test, debug and analysis capabilities, including a new UFS Events window and Trace Validation Builder for UFS. With this release Protocol Insight is also announcing availability of a solder-down probe supporting x1 and x2 UniPro links.

UFS Events view displays events on the UniPro link in a unique time-aligned display, allowing the engineer to easily see all UFS protocol events occurring in the complete trace, while drilling down to the time slice around the UFS packet of interest.

Low level information provided by UFS Events view include Speed, Packet Index, Packet timestamp and duration, and Request and Response packet times.

UFS Trace Validation Builder allows the user to construct complex multi-state search criteria to analyze a trace algorithmically without user intervention. The Falcon software library provides pre-defined Trace Validation tests for the user to analyze UFS traffic for any deviations from the UFS specification or any other abnormalities of interest to the engineer. Or the user can use UFS Trace Validation Builder to create custom Trace Validation tests from scratch or from existing tests in the Falcon software library.

Protocol Insight® announces Universal Flash Storage Association certification of Falcon G350 Exerciser/Analyzer

Falcon G350 UFS/UniPro Exerciser/Analyzer is now certified by the UFSA to verify compliance of UFS devices with the UFS Compliance Test Matrix v1.2 and the JESD224 Test Specification

Colorado Springs, Colorado, June 2, 2017 – Protocol Insight announces that Falcon G350 is now UFSA-certified for verifying compliance to the UFSA CTM v1.2 and the JEDEC JESD224 Compliance Test Specification (CTS). The Falcon G350 is also ideal for debugging UniPro and UFS designs and performing stress and margin testing on those designs.

UFSA-certified compliance testing

Falcon G350 is certified by the UFSA to verify compliance of UFS devices with the UFS Compliance Test Matrix v1.2 and the JESD224 Test Specification. For logo certification testing the Falcon G350 can:

  • Automatically set up the analyzer, exerciser and DUT for each test
  • Allow auto-configuration and reconfiguration of speeds, link widths and LUNs during the testing process
  • Allow users to select and run individual or multiple CTS protocol tests
  • Provide detailed information for each test that has been run
  • Create printable PDF reports and CSV export files
  • Generate the UFSA Compliance Report

Protocol Insight has supported all of the UFSA IOT workshops, starting with the first in August 2015, and first received UFSA certification for their Test Executive compliance test tool. The Falcon G350 certification has been obtained after participation in the most recent IOT workshop.

”The Universal Flash Storage Association is pleased to announce that Protocol Insight’s Falcon G350  is certified to verify UFS devices to the UFSA Compliance Test Matrix,” said Lisa Rhoden, president of the Universal Flash Association. “With the addition of Falcon G350 the ecosystem of tools to support UFSA certification continues to grow along with the adoption of the UFS standard.”

Protocol debug and analysis

In addition to UFSA-certified logo testing the Falcon G350 offers Trace Validation™, a state-machine expert system for analysis of UniPro and UFS traces, and Event view, a comprehensive overview of all events on the bus, including fillers, trig packets, SOB and EOB packets, etc.

Protocol Insight® announces enhanced Universal Flash Storage (UFS) memory protocol testing, debugging and compliance capability

Falcon v1.1 release supports testing, debug and compliance of UFS2.1 and UniPro1.61

Colorado Springs, Colorado, May 12, 2017 – Protocol Insight announces the availability of the Falcon v1.1 SW/FW with the unique Trace Validation and Events view capabilities. With v1.1 software Falcon now offers full support for UFS compliance testing of embedded UFS2.1, the UFS 2.1 external card and the UFSA CTM1.2. This release also adds enhanced analyzer and exerciser features.

Trace Validation is an expert system that uses state machine logic to analyze captured traces algorithmically without user intervention. It analyzes UFS and UniPro traffic for any deviations from the UFS or UniPro specifications or any other abnormalities of interest to the engineer, and presents the results linked to the packet listing windows for complete debug.

Events view displays events on the bus in a unique time-aligned display, allowing the engineer to easily drill down from the highest level trace view to the lowest level M-PHY primitives.

UFS compliance verifies embedded UFS2.1 and UFS 2.1 external cards to the CTS test cases in JESD224 as modified for JESD220B, JESD220C and JESD220-2.

The Falcon v1.1 release adds support for 244 CTS test cases, including JESD224 compliant test cases, errata test cases and preliminary embedded UFS2.1 and UFS2.1 external card CTS test cases. With both stimulus tests and Trace Validation analysis tests, a total of 491 tests are provided.

The previous v1.0 release provided support for 50 UniPro CTS test cases with 99 stimulus and Trace Validation analysis tests, as well as 14 UniPro Debug Trace Validation tests and 1 other Trace Validation test.

New analyzer features with v1.1 include:

  1. Simple Trigger on all UniPro and UFS packet types and payloads, from M-PHY primitives to UFS SCSI and Protocol.
  2. Simple Packet Search of all UniPro and UFS packet headers and payloads.
  3. Performance enhancements and multi-lane support for Events view.
  4. Trace Validation™ for UFS, using pre-existing Trace Validation analysis tests from the Falcon software library.

New Exerciser features include:

  1. JEDEC JESD224 and UFSA CTM v1.2 support.
  2. Stimulus error injection for UFS and UniPro.
  3. Additional test executive UFS device configuration and control.
