Protocol Insight Announces Compliance Test Suite for MIPI® Universal Flash Storage

Protocol Insight Announces Compliance Test Suite for MIPI® Universal Flash Storage (UFS) Memory for Mobile Computing Applications

UFS20COMP Compliance Test Suite offers complete test coverage and analysis
of the UFS standard

Colorado Springs, Colorado, June 12, 2014 – Protocol Insight today announced that they will be demonstrating their UFS Compliance Test Suite at the upcoming MIPI Alliance meeting in Budapest Hungary on June 17th, 2014.

Universal Flash Storage (UFS) memory is designed for embedded and removable flash-based storage in mobile devices and computing systems requiring high performance and low power consumption. UFS offers a low active power level and a near-zero idle power level, which, combined with the power-saving attributes of the related MIPI specifications, allows for significant reductions in device power consumption.

The UFS standard was developed by JEDEC, and is based on the MIPI® M-PHY physical and Unipro® protocol layers.  The Universal Flash Storage Association (UFSA) has been established to promote UFS adoption and provide a best-in-class enablement and compliance program.  The UFSA compliance program will assure Devices and Hosts interoperate reliably, provide a uniform positive customer experience, and ensure the maximum breadth of compatible products.

”The UFSA welcomes Protocol Insight to the UFS (JESD220) ecosystem” said Perry Keller, UFSA Board of Directors member for Agilent Technologies and UFSA Compliance Committee chairman.  “Protocol compliance test solutions will play an important role in the UFSA’s upcoming UFS Compliance program.”

Protocol Insight’s UFS20COMP Compliance Test Suite offers complete test coverage and analysis of the UFS standard.  It performs Pass/Fail testing, provides insight into failure condition, and links to the trace for immediate visibility of the protocol execution that caused the violation.  This will result in a shorter debug cycle and requires less knowledge of the JESD220 specification or MIPI M-PHY or UniPort-M on the part of the compliance team.

The UFS20COMP Compliance Test Suite executes all 18 sets of UFS SCSI Command test cases specified in the JEDEC Compliance Test Spec JESD224 Universal Flash Storage, and all 11 sets of UFS Protocol test cases specified in the JEDEC Compliance Test Spec JESD224 Universal Flash Storage.  In total UFS20COMP executes over 250 separate tests.
