Falcon G600R Series Release Notes

Release Notes: Protocol Insight® Falcon G600 Series Exerciser Analyzer

The software and hardware teams are actively working to introduce new features in the G600R and G650R instruments. However, there are still several unresolved issues, and some major functions are not yet available. Below is a list of functions that are currently NOT supported; these functions will be available in future releases.

    • TFS Error Insertion
  • CTS Test Cases – UniPro CTS V2.0 all test operational except:

V6.1.0 – September 25, 2026

Known Issues:

  • Credit Mode 32 does not work
  • In some rare cases the timestamp may be incorrect, causing the data to not be correctly interleaved
  • In rare cases there may be 0x5c seen at the end of a burst in a red packet       
  • Exerciser mode:
    • Unable to access any CPORT except 1 via a DME READ/Write

New Features and Improvements:

  • Updated instrument FPGA to Version 0x815B002E0131
  •  Added UFS 5.0 Preliminary CTS tests for 7.7.2, 8.4.3, 8.4.9, 8.6.24, 8.6.28, 8.6.29, 8.6.30, 8.6.31, 8.6.33
  • Added the ability to create and run TFS Trace Validation Tests.
  • Added TFS error insertion and initial V3 CTS test cases, see website for more information
  • The CTS test cases can now be loaded separately from the software version. The loaded version of CTS tests is selected in the Configuration Pane.
  • We added a User Preference setting to suppress warning messages when duplicate tests are detected. Tests may be duplicated if a Custom Test is created with the same name as a current CTS Test; the software handles this automatically by appending a custom hash to the end of the test name. These renamed tests will be visible under CustomTests.
  • Added option to allow for the creation of Trace Validation tests using C#.
  • Added C# TV Sample Tests (Documents\Protocol Insight\Falcon\CustomTest\Samples)
  • Added new Report TV Tests for UFS Latency (in Configuration Pane, under Trace Validation)
  • Added new Stimulus EQTR Tests for Equalization Training (in Configuration Pane, under Stimulus)
  • Added an option to the Calibration Wizard to allow recalibrating existing files. This allows you to open an existing .cal file and recalibrate using the new calibration routines. This uses the data store in the calibration file and does not require the instrument to be connected. 
  • Added an option in Settings → RAD Configuration to allow the captured RAD data to be reduced to 250 MegaSample/sec. This allows you to capture a large number of points of low-frequency data to view the timing of PREPARE, SLEEP, START OF BURST, etc.
  • Added CTRL+G keyboard shortcut on the Packet List panes to open Goto Packet Index.
  • Saved layouts can be added as buttons on the User Toolbar via Settings → User Toolbar → Layouts.
  • Added new live Packet Preview feature. View → Packet List → Packet Preview.
  • When the application setup is launched, a splash screen is shown until files are extracted and setup is ready to begin.
  • Changed Configuration Pane defaults, Transmission Mode: NonAuto and Speed: HS-G1.
  • Go to Packet Index and Packet Time have been moved under the “Go To” option when right clicking within packet list panes.
  • Exerciser Mode now shows host Line-Reset in the UniPro Packet List, this event was previously not visible.
  • Improved time correlation between the packet lists (TFS, UniPro and UFS) and RAD.
  • Added the ability to set a custom DiffZ trigger threshold into the calibration files. If you experience issues where the instrument does not accurately detect M-PHY DIFFZ events, such as HIBERN8 or lane wakeup / exit detection, contact support@protocolinsight.com for details on how to change this setting.

Corrected Issues and Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where TFS Packet Errors were not correctly reported on the TFS Packet List.
  • Fixed an issue where certain licenses could not open files with certain power modes.
  • Fixed an issue where saving a custom trace with no data could fail.
  • Fixed an issue where a Trace Validation could fail and cancel itself before it completes.
  • User Preferences → Warning Dialog settings now persist through application restart.
  • Removed old Memory Depth setting from the RAD Configuration settings tab.
  • Fixed issue where the user preference to prompt on Clear TV Results was tied to Run TV instead.
  • Fixed an issue where API documentation could not be opened from the Test Editor.
  • Fixed a bug loading UFS packets on some traces.

V6.0.20 – August 20, 2026

  • Known Issues:
    • Credit Mode 32 does not work
    • The timestamps may be incorrect this will cause the data to not be correctly interleaved
    • 0x5c may occasionally be seen at the end of a burst, in a red packet
    • If Trace Validation cancels before it finishes, try running it again               
  • Exerciser mode:
    • Unable to access any CPORT except 1 via a DME READ/Write

Corrected Issues and Bug Fixes:

  • Updated instrument firmware to Version 0x8153002E012A
  • UniPro CTS 1.11.3 where x2 lanes would not pass
  • Low Speed Link Startup would not complete in some cases

  • Added new TX EQTR Settings to allow TX Voltage swings to be set for each lane.
  • Block Type and Parameter Fields in TFS decode are colored to match the UniPro packet type
  • Updates to the default layout of the application
  • Corrected warnings when applying advanced calibration
  • Fixed an issue where Message Console messages were not displayed.
  • Corrected an issue in our UniPro stack where LS LSS may not complete in Exerciser mode
  • Analyzer will track EQTR
  • Fixed an issue that resulted in an unnecessary boot before stim tests when using “Start All”
  • Fixed a delay when unloading from Start All with no TFS data
  • Fixed an issue where the Eye Bin Viewer wculd slow the app when enabled
  • Added RAD Data unload when Running All
